OpenSearch Migration Assessment

Our client is a Fortune 500 financial and payments technology company, and leads the industry in innovation, scale, and service.
They are now looking to add to their team and are looking to hire an "OpenSearch Migration Assessment”. This role will be based out of New York City, ideally hybrid, but can be100% Remote.
Project:
AWS-funded migration assessment for moving Apache Solr on EC2 to AWS OpenSearch Service.
The engagement focuses on assessing the current environment, identifying migration risks/gaps, and building a migration roadmap with cost and ROI analysis.

Required Skills
- Strong experience with Apache Solr architecture and administration
- Experience with AWS OpenSearch Service
- Search platform migration assessment and strategy
- Application dependency and integration analysis
- Performance benchmarking and SLA validation
- AWS infrastructure knowledge, especially EC2 environments
- Nice to Have
- Apache ZooKeeper administration
- GenAI-assisted migration tools
- Cost optimization and ROI modeling
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and inventory existing Solr clusters, shards, indices, and data volumes
- Analyze index structures, query patterns, and ingestion pipelines
- Identify upstream/downstream system dependencies
- Evaluate compatibility gaps between Solr and OpenSearch
- Develop migration readiness assessment and target-state architecture
- Create migration roadmap, complexity assessment, and cost/ROI analysis
- Provide recommendations for modernization and migration planning

Compensation: $550.00 - $650.00 per day
